SUMMER EXHIBITIONS FROM 21 MAY 2002 (UNTIL 22 SEPTEMBER)
Final program under construction.

Vivement 2002 ! sixth and last instalment
Exhibitions at Mamco (from 3rd Novembre 2001)
A Fall-Winter 2001-2002 four-act programme.

First, a group show in collaboration with the Centre for Contemporary Image (Saint-Gervais, Geneva) as part of the 9th Biennial of Moving Image: Record All-Over.
An opportunity to associate Mamco yet more closely to this important Geneva event and to prefigure various forms of cooperation that will find their regular and amplified scope in the Bac + 3 project, through which hopefully will bring together in the building presently housing the Contemporary Art Centre, the Municipal Contemporary Art Collection and Mamco : the Centre for Contemporary Image, the Centre of Contemporary Print and the Photography Centre.

Then, Play, eight new temporary monographic presentations:
Wall paintings by Francis Baudevin (Geneva), posters by Herbert Fuchs (Innsbruck), multiplied works by Fabrice Gygi (Geneva), paintings by Alex Hanimann (Saint-Gall), printed photographs by Allen Ruppersberg (New York - Los Angeles), shop windows by Frieda Schumann (Paris), wall drawings by Jean-Luc Verna (Nice) and, lastly, Erwin Wurm's obese car (Vienna) with an accompagnying video.

As well as Repertory (Replay), fragments of sixteen past Mamco shows replayed.
Or looking back over our history taking our past exhibitions into consideration as forming a repertory (in the theatrical sense of the word) to be revisited, reactivated, reactualised, reinterrogated, reinterpreted - i.e., to bring the show back into play.

Lastly, Montages (Free Associations) and other reworks and adjunctions, two new polygraphic show-rooms:
Where we pursue our reflection on museographic hangings, in other words on various articulation of the works' interplay logics, on the resulting polysemy and polyphony. Or how to develop a montage (in the cinematographic sense of the word) policy and strategy on the onlooker's scale throughout his visit : a museum as a visited moving picture.
Both these new exercises of free association may be applied to some of the recent usage of photography (Miroirs) and various works by more or less canonical artists taken as a whole, for the most part preceding by their concepts or their dates the period and problematics taken until then into account by Mamco (Rétroviseur. Loués soient les grands hommes!).

Several artists (Francis Baudevin, Fabrice Gygi and Stéphane Magnin) have assisted Mamco with the works's hanging or treatment of walls for some of these shows.

Mamco is open everyday, except Monday, from noon to 6 pm ; Tuesday until 9 pm.
