Black Squirrel Society. A large-scale installation
Black Squirrel Society. Growing up, the artist's father would bring his children along on his night job cleaning a Masonic temple in South Los Angeles. For his first solo exhibition in New York, Mario Ybarra Jr. will construct a large-scale installation to create his prosaic vision. Consisting of mural sized paintings and sculpture, Ybarra activates the space with folklore, and employs his vivid childhood memories to explore his Mexican-American experience.
