Painter of the Incredible. For the first time, Fernando Botero's fascinating and eccentric painting is exhibited in Denmark. The exhibition focuses on the grand themes in his different subjects: portraits, still lifes, bullfighting, scenes of city and country life as well as paraphrases of famous paintings. In Botero's paintings childhood memories, Colombian street life and criticism of the rulers mingle with his great affection for the masters of European painting.
Painter of the Incredible
For the first time, Fernando Botero's fascinating and eccentric painting is exhibited in Denmark. The world-famous Latin American artist from Colombia fills ARKEN's halls in the spring of 2002. Botero's paintings possess a magical mood of melancholy and desire, celebration and terror.
The exhibition focuses on the grand themes in his different subjects: portraits, still lifes, bullfighting, scenes of city and country life as well as paraphrases of famous paintings. In Botero's paintings childhood memories, Colombian street life and criticism of the rulers mingle with his great affection for the masters of European painting.
The exhibition is mounted by Moderna Museet, Stockholm.
