Group show
The concept gallery, Galería Alcuadrado, presents new works by 10 Latin American
artists in the group exhibition Sin remedio, curated by Mariangela Méndez, in the
temporary space of a hospital in quarantine with all its furniture and equipment
inside.
Sin remedio explores the notion of a problem without solution by asking the
participating artists to make use of an abandoned hospital — in a country that has
more than half of its population living below the poverty line and 20 million
citizens on government assistance for healthcare — as gallery space and as metaphor
for this issue.
Participating artists include Miguel Ángel Rojas, François Bucher, María Elvira
Escallón, Alberto Baraya, Óscar Muñoz, Jaime Ávila, Wilfredo Prieto, Juan Fernando
Herrán, María José Arjona, and Néstor Gutiérrez. The group of works present
themselves as a force of resistances, a critic to the social and political situation
of the region.
