This carnavalesque riot of music, games and burlesque is set to inject mayhem, irreverence and fun into the London art scene. Offering collectors opportunities to win original works by the most colourful cult artists around, the event is a truly anarchic expression of the punk spirit of art. Many of the artists invited have made serious breakthroughs in 2008.
As London gears up to the busiest week in the art world calendar, Lazarides
Gallery is thrilled to announce a unique event – the Lazarides Extravaganza.
This carnavalesque riot of music, games and burlesque is set to inject
mayhem, irreverence and fun into the London art scene. Offering collectors
opportunities to win original works by the most colourful and collectible cult
artists around, the Lazarides Extravaganza will be a truly anarchic expression
of the punk spirit of art.
Only 250 tickets are available for the Extravaganza, which will take place on
the evening of 16 October. As well as admitting two guests to an evening of
nefarious entertainments, each ticket also guarantees the lucky holder an
original artwork by Jonathan Yeo, Antony Micallef, Faile, JR or Paul Insect.
The tickets also offer a one-in-ten chance to win works of art by both the artists
above and the likes of Miranda Donovan, Banksy, Invader and Conor
Harrington, some of which are worth in excess of £200,000. Tickets cost
£5,000, but 10 tickets will be held back and given away to 10 lucky art
enthusiasts. No ticket holder will leave the secret venue empty handed, and
one in ten will have won a major work of contemporary art.
The original works on offer here showcase the very best of cult art, and many
of the artists represented in the Lazarides Extravaganza have made serious
breakthroughs in 2008. From adorning the outer walls of Tate Modern to
setting auction houses alight, this year cult art has fascinated and thrilled
collectors and the art-loving public alike.
Steve Lazarides, Director of Lazarides Gallery, said: “This night is all about
putting as much energy and attitude into the London art scene as these artists
put into their work. It’s also going to give those collectors lucky enough to get
a ticket the chance to take part in one of the most exciting contemporary art
forms around.”
