One of the world's first and best-known short film festivals, is now launching its fourth European tour, presenting the most interesting works from recent festivals to an even wider audience. The 5 touring programmes show highlights from the International and German Competitions, as well as the best German music videos from the MuVi Award and a specially compiled Best of Artist Film & Video.
From January to June 2009 the International Short Film Festival Oberhausen will be sending 40 films on a trip through 35 cities in 14 different countries. Kick-off is on 7 January 2009 in Oberhausen. The fourth European journey under the title _Oberhausen on Tour_ will visit venues from Amsterdam to Zielona Góra, from Russia to Turkey.
And this time once again _Oberhausen on Tour_ will present the most interesting current works featured at the last two festivals, arranged into five programmes. In association with the partner venues, the Oberhausen selection gives viewers throughout Europe an opportunity to discover all the variety offered by today_s short film scene. _We inaugurated _Oberhausen on Tour_ five years ago to make the Oberhausen short films available to a wider audience outside the festival_, explains festival director Lars Henrik Gass.
For the touring programmes Oberhausen has compiled award-winners and outstanding works from its competitions, including 2008 German Competition winner, Eva Koennemann_s _Die Tragoeden aus der Stadt_, which closely follows actor Fabian Hinrichs and director Laurent Chétouane during the rehearsal process, _Alexandra_ by Romanian filmmaker Radu Jude, an _honest look at the complex landscapes of family life_, in the words of the jury (winner of the main prize in the International Competition) and naturally the recommendation of the 2008 Cinema Jury, _Jos Kaadun_ (If I Fall) by Hannaleena Hauru from Finland, a love story told in an unusual way. In the line-up _Best of Artist Film & Video_ the festival presents works from the arts scene, including productions by Jaan Toomik, Yael Bartana and Sun Xun. Outstanding music videos from the 2007 and 2008 MuVi Awards round out the tour.
