The film selected for this inaugural year is from 1973 and was shot by one of the pioneer filmmakers of the New British Cinema of the 1950s: Lindsay Anderson’s (This Sporting Life, !f..., Brittania Hospital) anti-capitalist movie Oh Lucky Man!). The original music for this simultaneously Marxist, Brechtian, surreal, angry and absurd, epic journey masterpiece was composed by Alan Price, one of the founders of the legendary British rock n’ roll group, The Animals. Oh Lucky Man! is a rock n’ roll film that also lays bare the social circumstances that gave birth to the punk movement in the UK. Altyazı invites all cinephiles to a discussion of this epic masterpiece, which is packed with references to the entire history of mankind, on Sunday, February 15th.
