Andres Lutz & Anders Guggisberg

CCS Centre Culturel Suisse, Paris

Working as a duo since 1996, the art of Lutz & Guggisberg draws from a variety of fields including history, ethnology, geology, fauna, science fiction and literature. It is also multifacted, combining many elements and often comes about by chance and is based on the imagination. Humour, derision, ecstatic madness, their very free artistic research is similar to an experimental laboratory or a cabinet of curiosities. The exhibition is based on a new large installation that makes use of all available space and also shows off some new sculptures and an astonishing series of black and white photographs.

Working as a duo since 1996, the art of Andres Lutz & Anders Guggisberg draws from a variety of fields including history, ethnology, geology, fauna, science fiction and literature. It is also multifacted, combining many elements and often comes about by chance and is based on the imagination.

Humour, derision, ecstatic madness, their very free artistic research is similar to an experimental laboratory or a cabinet of curiosities.

This first Lutz & Guggisberg exhibition in France is based on a new large installation that makes use of all available space and also shows off some new sculptures and an astonishing series of black and white photographs.

There is also a programme of different disciplines running alongside the exhibition:

Dance with the Compagnie 7273 working with guitarist Sir Richard Bishop (14, 16 and 17.02).
Cinema with the screening of Fernand Melgar's documentary La Forteresse, winner of the Golden Léopard in the "Cinéastes du Présent" (current filmmakers) category of the last Locarno Film Festival
(4 to 11.03).
Music with exceptional concerts from singer Polar (with a different guest each night) for the release of his latest album (16 to 21.03) and the visit to Paris of the extraordinary group Die Regierung (7 to 9.04).
Literature with two special evenings, one devoted to Charles Lewinsky (26.02) and the other to Michel Mettler & Peter Weber (31.03).
Theatre with the Alakran Company, Oskar Gómez Mata and their latest piece Kaïros, sisyphes et zombies (24 to 26.03).
And finally, two round tables, organized in partnership with L'Hebdo, to debate ideas and reflections on diverse subjects like the role of cultural centres (13.03) or current town planning policies (03.04).

New directors at the Centre culturel Suisse:
The new co-directors of the Centre culturel suisse de Paris, Jean-Paul Felley and Olivier Kaeser, define the Centre as a hive – an artistic meeting place of production and presentation of works. Their first programme comes with a renewal of the Centre culturel suisse graphic charter, a new internet site and a new communication tool: Le Phare news bulletin.

Coming next:
