FormContent - new space, London

Giada Pucci, Emma Astner with Katarina Burin and Mathew Hale, antepress, Emanuel Almborg and Jeff Kinkle

comunicato stampa

The intervention that will unsettle FormContent’s physical boundaries for the whole of September is a project by Giada Pucci: FormContent_009 . The Italian artist manipulates an environment by breaking down the existing architectural features and playing – like in a mirror game – with the rhythm of its structural elements. She draws from the visual and historic memory of the space, while moulding a timeless zone that will become the spatial framework of a series of activities that will be presented over three weekends.

11 September, 6pm. – Maison pour Monsiour X – a collaborative projection by Katarina Burin & Mathew Hale curated by Emma Astner
Royal College MA Curating candidate Emma Astner will present a project by Katarina Burin & Mathew Hale. The space becomes a flexible testing ground for curators and artists alike.

19 September – antepress
antepress is an imprint and project platform initiated by a group of art writing practitioners who began collaborating as a result of the MFA Art Writing at Goldsmiths College. This season they will collaborate with FormContent in fostering a dialogue between various exhibition formats and what constitutes art writing. This relationship will culminate in a publication released in 2010. On September 19 the parameters of this partnership will be defined in a public intervention in the exhibition space.

26 September – Emanuel Almborg and Jeff Kinkle – The Rest Is Silence
London / Stockholm based artist Emanuel Almborg and theorist Jeff Kinkle will present The Rest Is Silence (Konst & Teknik Art Press), a book which deals with the history and legends around an experimental building project. The scene is set in Hackney’s derelict lot in the late 1970s while the origin of the project by a group of residents is shrouded in mystery. For the release, Almborg and Kinkle will stage a performance taking the shape of a conversation that sets out to explore the unknown reasons behind the building project.

For the whole month, FormContent’s office will be moved purposefully at the centre of the scene. Throughout the exhibition the space will be open to artists and curators to present and discuss projects. It will be a chance for developing future collaboration, to test out ideas or to have in depth discussions on specific interests. If you would like to contact us please drop us an e-mail at info@formcontent.org

Special thanks to Luca Frei who for the occasion lends the bookshelves he designed for the exhibition ‘It’s not for reading. It’s for making’
