As its name indicates, the exhibition No(t)Music is not about musical experimentations, it is panorama of interactions between sound and contemporary art. Above all visual doesn't claim to have a retrospective glance. It is rather a question of showing, through contemporary work, how the artists capture this sound material in very different ways. This exhibition tries to clarify the autonomy and the specificity of artists' practices in the contemporary art field. It finds its wealth in the eclecticism of its approaches and the variety of its sources.

The Fort du Bruissin is a military armory, built during the 19th century. Designed by the General Sere de Riviere, it is part of a military fortification running from Lille to Toulon (from north to south of France). This architectural construction of more than 3000m2, of which 2000m2 is in use for the exhibitions, is surrounded by 10 hectares of woods. After important renovations and since February 2008 it has hosted the Contemporary Art Center.
