Nothing is original
On May, 22, 2002, the Sprengel Museum, Hannover, presents for the first time
in Germany an exhibition of editions, multiples, artist's books, graphics,

Curated by Norbert Nobis this exhibition showcases the deep interest of an
artist - whose neonworks are international wellknown - in the use of an
extremely broad range of media, objects and everyday means to communicate
his message. Nannucci has been an important figure in the editorial art
landscape of the last three decades. A large choice of his multiples and
editions can be found in the collections of Moma, New York; Getty
Foundation, Malibu; Stedelijk Museum, Amsterdam; New York Public Library;
Bibliothèque Nationale de France, Paris; Centre Pompidou, Paris; National
Gallery, Ottawa and in many private collections.
In the early sixties Maurizio Nannucci started to explore various directions
practicing art as a large field of experimental new art forms (Concrete
Poetry, Fluxus, Minimal Art, Conceptual Art...).
Precisely in 1961 he initiated research in verbal structure and connected
usage with, for the arts, unusual media such as radio, computer, audio,
video. He took part from 1965 to 1969 in the team of the studio di Fonologia
Musicale s 2f m of Florence elaborating sound poetry, electronic and
computer music connected with visual processes.
Since 1967 Maurizio Nannucci has edited numerous multiples, records,
photoworks, artist's books, such as: Universum, Dattilogrammi, Nine colors,
Definitions, Nomenclature, M40, Sessanta Verdi Naturali, Art as social
enveronment, Up above the wor(l)d / A guide for aliens, Parole, Audio
Intellect, Fluxus Anthology, Backtoback, Hear me, Collectors are welcome,
Lives here, Stored Images, Hortus Botanicus, A Green Journey, Freezer, Where
to start from, Decouvrir Differentes Directions, Look Left... published by
an impressive number of editors all over the world.
As Editor of Exempla, Recorthing, Méla Magazin, as curator of Zona
Archives, and as founder of the Non-Profit-Art-Spaces Zona (1974/1985) and
Base/Progetti per l'arte (1998...), both in Florence, he has realized
successfully a multi-faceted definition as artist, combining his
experimental art practice with collecting art and communicating new art
directions
Maurizio Nannucci has participated several time in the Biennale of Venice,
Sao Paulo, Sydney, Istanbul and Documenta, Kassel. His work has been shown
