The talk looks at the strategies used in Cabinet magazine in order to help foster a "culture of curiosity" that evokes, in the words of Michel Foucault, "a care for what exists and could exist; a readiness to find strange and singular what surrounds us; a relentlessness to break up our familiarities and to regard otherwise the same things; a fervor to grasp what is happening and what passes; a casualness in regard to the traditional hierarchies of the important and the essential." Sina Najafi is editor-in-chief of the magazine and the editorial director of Cabinet Books. Najafi has also curated or co-curated a number of exhibitions. The lecture is part of "Exploring the Return of Repression" project curated by Razvan Ion.
