America’s longest running national fine art fair, The Art Show, organized by the Art Dealers Association of America (ADAA) to benefit Henry Street Settlement, kicks off Art Week in New York on March 2nd, 2010. The Art Show, now in its 22nd year, continues the ADAA’s commitment to curatorial expertise and diversity, bringing compelling exhibitions of art ranging from cutting-edge, 21st century works to museum-quality pieces from the 19th and 20th centuries.

Lucy Mitchell-Innes, President of the ADAA, describes the fair’s commitment to curatorial excellence, noting, “The Art Show is a collection of unparalleled, intimate exhibitions of the finest in contemporary, modern, and master artworks.” According to Linda Blumberg, Executive Director of ADAA, “The extraordinary expertise and knowledge of ADAA member dealers creates an ideal environment for learning about and purchasing fine art.”

The 2010 Art Show will include 26 exceptional solo and two-person focused exhibitions, including shows of new work from William Kentridge at Marian Goodman Gallery and Charles Long at Tanya Bonakdar Gallery. PaceWildenstein will display works by Fred Wilson, and Luhring Augustine will present works on paper by Albert Oehlen. Alighiero e Boetti will be the focus of the solo presentation at Sperone Westwater, and James Cohan Gallery will exhibit Second Nature, a collection of new work by Roxy Paine. Galerie Lelong will show a solo booth of Nancy Spero, and self-portraits by Martin Kippenberger will be a highlight at David Nolan Gallery. Dealers are also organizing over 20 outstanding group and thematic exhibitions such as Cheim & Read’s Important Works by Women Artists: Louise Bourgeois and Joan Mitchell, and Three Generations of Conceptual Artists at Barbara Krakow Gallery.

Expanding the range and distinction of The Art Show, ADAA welcomes eight first-time exhibiting galleries: Blum & Poe, Los Angeles; Marianne Boesky Gallery, New York; Valerie Carberry Gallery, Chicago; Howard Greenberg Gallery, New York; Nicole Klagsbrun Gallery, New York; Michael Kohn Gallery, Los Angeles; Menconi & Schoelkopf Fine Art, LLC, New York; and Pace/MacGill Gallery, New York. These additions, along with longstanding ADAA member exhibitors, will compose an extraordinary presentation of the highest quality artworks and continue The Art Show’s tradition of connoisseurship and excellence.
