Real artists don't have teeth. Performance.
Real artists don't have teeth is a performance monologue by the Spanish artist Dora Garcia. It will be premiered as a part of Garcia's exhibition at Index in Stockholm. Tinted by the artist's characteristic dark humour, the performance work examines the complexity in issues related to censorship, audience-artist relationships, mainstream and marginality. The work of Spanish artist Dora Garcia explore certain expressions taken from popular culture processed in real time and through a fictionalized course of events. Fiction becomes her one important tool since the artist has no intention of building reconstructions of history, but rather to offer possible scenarios where conventions concerning ethics and morals are being challenged. The performance is presented in Swedish and features actor Jakob Tamm.
