This show brings together artists from Mexico whose practices are marked by ongoing explorations of social relations. These artists expose the substructures of everyday social encounters - systems of power, language, commerce, public architecture - paying notice to their environs within shifting localized contexts.

In Lieu of Unity brings together artists from Mexico whose practices are marked by ongoing explorations of social relations. These artists expose the substructures of everyday social encounters - systems of power, language, commerce, public architecture - paying notice to their environs within shifting localized contexts. In Lieu of Unity includes established, early career and emerging artists working in video, sculpture, installation, performance/intervention and two-dimensional media. Several will travel to Marfa to create new work that responds specifically to Marfa's unique social context.
