A Box of Prints showcases some of Lawrence's iconic images of Paul Weller. A new photographic exhibition, A Box of Prints by Lawrence Watson, will be
showcasing some of Lawrence’s iconic images of Paul Weller at the Royal Albert
Hall from 14 May until 3 June 2010 as part of the Royal Albert Hall’s reflect
series.
Taken during the many great recording sessions from his ‘Wild Wood’ album to
the present day from studio sessions to live concerts, Lawrence has been
fortunate to have been given the opportunity to document all these moments in
this truly iconic songwriter’s career. Featuring live shots from some of Paul
Weller’s major gigs in Amsterdam, New York and London as well as some of his
most famous album covers, this is the first time that this exhibition has been seen
in London. Lawrence has had unparalleled access to photograph Paul Weller
and has quickly established himself as his favourite photographer.
In addition to his Paul Weller collection, Lawrence has worked with many other
important and iconic musicians including The Smiths, Ian Brown, Oasis,
Morrissey and Blur to name but a few.
Paul Weller plays at the Hall from 24 May until 28 May and this exhibition is the
perfect complement to these series of gigs. Fans who attend the free open days
also stand the chance of winning a print signed by Paul Weller himself.
Lawrence said ‘I’m very excited to be exhibiting at the Royal Albert Hall. It’s a
unique opportunity to have my work displayed at such a prestigious venue and
for fans of Paul to view these images whilst attending his series of gigs here’.
Lucy Noble, Head of Programming at the Royal Albert Hall, said ‘As an ideal
counterpart to Paul Weller’s return to the Royal Albert in May, we are delighted to
welcome this exhibition by Lawrence Watson. We are constantly looking for
exhibitions that are insightful, engaging and unqiue and this exhibition is just that,
giving fans a chance to glimpse into the world of one of our greatest living
musicians’
This exhibition can be viewed when attending performances at the Royal Albert Hall or during
these free open days:
