I Rishi, che si possono incontrare in tutto il Bangladesh, sono persone collocate al di fuori del sistema delle caste e considerate intoccabili. Nell'installazione di Associazione Di+ lo spettatore percepisce la stessa frustrazione e privazione che i Rishis sperimentano ogni giorno.

RISHI Who?:
The Rishi, contemptuously called "Muchi", are to be found all over Bangladesh, but perhaps their highest concentration is found in its south western regions, in the districts of Jessore, Satkhira and Khulna.
The Big issue?
Mainly Hindu by religion, these people are placed outside of the caste system and considered untouchables or 'ochut’.
These things still happen today?
Yes they do. Very much so. The discrimination against the Rishis ranges from physical abuse, to verbal abuse to segregation. Some have even had fatal consequences.
So whats this exhibition about?
It is a window into the world of the Rishis. Being an art installation its been painstakingly prepared. And once inside it is meant to trigger the same feelings of frustration and deprivation in you that Rishis have experienced every single day of their lives for many generations. How? Well thats the big surprise. Come find out for yourself!
Parittran- an NGO, Di + - a cultural association and Ogilvy & Mather Bangladesh proudly present KHACHAR BHITOR OCHIN RISHI, An Art Installation exhibition on identity.
The exhibition will be open to public everyday from 11am to 7pm (except fridays from 3pm to 8pm) at National Art Gallery, Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy

One Last Thing.....
If you are out on May 23 and 24 keep your eyes and ears peeled for anything incredibly intriguing on the streets of Dhaka city. If what you spot looks anything like a live caged man make sure you stop and check it out. After all, why wouldn’t you?

RISHI: chi è?
Il Rishi, chiamato anche in modo sprezzante "Muchi", lo puoi incontrare in tutto il Bangladesh, ma forse la loro più alta concentrazione si trova nelle regioni occidentali del sud, nei distretti di Jessore, di Satkhira e di Khulna.
Il grande problema?
Principalmente di religione indù, queste persone sono collocate al di fuori del sistema delle caste e considerate per questo intoccabili o ochut.
Queste cose accadono ancora oggi?
Ebbene sì, e anche molto frequentemente! La discriminazione contro i Rishis varia dall' abuso fisico, all' abuso verbale, alla segregazione spesso anche con conseguenze mortali.
E quindi cosa vuole indagare questa mostra?
È una finestra nel mondo dei Rishis. Essendo un'installazione artistica, è stata preparata molto scrupolosamente. Ed una volta dentro lo spettatore è destinato a percepire le stesse sensazioni di frustrazione e di privazione che i Rishis sperimentano ogni giorno da molte generazioni.
Come? Bene, questa è la grande sorpresa. A voi scoprirla!

La mostra sarà aperta tutti i giorni dalle 11am alle 7pm (eccetto il venerdì dalle 3pm alle 8pm) presso la Galleria d'Arte Nazionale, Accademia Shilpakala Bangladesh

Se vi trovate per le vie della città di Dhaka il 23 e il 24 maggio, aguzzate i vostri occhi e le vostre orecchie perchè accadrà qualcosa di incredibilmente intrigante.
