Soft is inIVA's ambitious new season of visual arts projects, bringing together a diverse selection of international artist-curated exhibitions and events. The Danger Museum is a mobile organisation working from Norway, Japan and Singapore. DM adapts to each location it visits and calls into question the basic functions of the art institution, hoping to fill the gaps where the art museum fails.

Soft is inIVA's ambitious new season of visual arts projects, bringing together
a diverse selection of international artist-curated exhibitions and events. Soft
is an exploration of networking, exchange, mobility and interaction, and the
season presents these activities as viable strategies for contemporary art
production. Crucially, Soft aims to expose the elastic and fluid nature of
current visual art practice.
Concentrated around inIVA's east London base, each project explores the creative
collision between artist and curator. Soft's series of events, exhibitions,
screenings, debates and online projects focuses on the way artists are
increasingly absorbing the practice of curating into their work.
inIVA has selected three collaborative artist-groups to take part in Soft. Each
group occupies a month-long slot, and each is invited to curate a series of
events situated in and around TheSpace@inIVA. A central feature of the season is
that each artist-group is encouraged to invite other artists and individuals to
take part in Soft - creating debates, collaborative events, screenings,
interventions, collections and documentations. Soft's framework promises to form
supportive platforms for visual artists, whose work can function beyond the
traditional confines of the museum.

The Danger Museum is a mobile organisation working from Norway, Japan and
Singapore. DM adapts to each location it visits and calls into question the
basic functions of the art institution, hoping to fill the gaps where the art
museum fails. Past projects have parodied the essentials of a 'real' museum such
as the gallery shop and café. DM's projects for Soft include: interviews with
artists on their art and life, a letter-box for comments, a suitcase museum,
online discussion spaces, notice-boards and a DM newsletter especially produced
for Soft.
