20 studios will be open. Artists Asli Cavusoglu, Andy Holden, Fabiano Marques, Julie Myers, Emily Rosamond, Studio Weave and Bedwyr Williams have been resident at the Centre for the last month and will be opening their studios alongside many of the artists who work from Wysing on an ongoing basis. Special events, artists' talk an performances.
Artists Asli Çavuşoğlu, Andy Holden, Fabiano Marques, Julie Myers, Emily Rosamond, Studio Weave and Bedwyr Williams have been resident at the Centre for the last month and will be opening their studios alongside many of the artists who work from Wysing on an ongoing basis - Jeremy Andrews, Rachael Barker, Michael Brennand-Wood, Julie Brenot, Elena Cologni, Sarah Evans, Bettina Furnee, Abbas Hashemi, Katherine Hymers, Helen Judge, Hayley Lock, Nora Maycock, Anne Mie Melis, Helen Stratford, Andrew Tanser, Simon Woolham and Caroline Wright.
20 studios will be open and include Andy Holden’s Stalagmite Rock Club Beer Bottle Rock Shop; an installation created especially for the open weekend and featuring editions of his work for sale at £25 each. Emily Rosamond’s Propane Think Tank; in which she transforms her studio into a research lab for odd and intriguing ideas, images and stories of energy storage and consumption. Fabiano Marques discovers how art and flying overlap in Gliding for Artists; a film of the process of learning to fly a glider at Cambridge Gliding Club. And as part of Bedwyr Williams’ investigation into farming subcultures he has created a new sculpture Ram-Bicycle. Other studios include works on paper, video, performance and painting.
Special events include an artists’ talk by Asli Çavuşoğlu (Saturday 3-4pm) about her new film project inspired by Turkish society’s perception of Western culture. And workshops for children include architects Studio Weave’s drop-in Exploring Drawing workshop; part of their secret folly project (Saturday 2-5pm) and Julie Myers’ Soundscape workshop; making and listening to sounds from nature (Sunday 2-4pm).
