The group exhibitionis a collocation of foreign and Danish artists all presenting works that in principle - but on very different terms - are black. Black is the vanishing point of all colour, a cultural maelstrom of mythology, abstraction and pop; black magic, black holes, black on white, black as ink.

The group exhibition FAINT TO BLACK is a most exciting collocation of foreign and Danish artists all presenting works that in principle - but on very different terms - are black. Black is the vanishing point of all colour, a cultural maelstrom of mythology, abstraction and pop; black magic, black holes, black on white, black as ink.
As rebellious imperative mood, legendary Paint It Black by Rolling Stones introduced a devil-may-care psychological space. Fade to Black by Metallica – through its reference to the medium of film – involved time, while simultaneously disrupting the dualism light/dark; imagine a colour actually fading towards black.
As it turns out the exhibition title is a hybrid, and a linguistic spin-off too. Through the 'black out' of fainting, FAINT TO BLACK produces a situation equally personal and formal.
It is our hope that the somewhat narrow curatorial framework – black, as it is – will be able to disclose optical, psychological, and cultural meaning still hidden. We do see a darkness so full of shades, and in the origination from nothingness Utopia may be forever rediscovered.
At the opening Uffe Holm will perform his work Black Tie Dye at approximately 6 o´clock.
Opening Friday, September 24, at 5 - 8 pm
