Mysterious TINA B., the festival’s charming patroness and lover of contemporary art, will be appearing in Prague in October for the fifth year in a row to introduce almost a hundred artists from around the world. Let yourself be dazzled by her charisma and enticed into viewing the hottest works of art today...
From October 7 to 24 Prague will host the fifth annual TINA B. Contemporary Art Festival, which showcases works from the field of new media, light art, video art, performance, and other areas. This year again TINA B. will take visitors to various venues to view her exhibitions – to the cellar gallery in Nostic Palace, the Czech Centre Prague, the Jerusalem Synagogue, Vernon Projekt, the new Jób Gallery in Žižkov, and other venues. Alongside the exhibitions that can be viewed over the course of three weeks, an accompanying programme has also been prepared, full of discussions, events in the public space, and social evenings, running from 7 to 9 October. The exact programme is attached below.
There will be no shortage of interesting people at the festival. The exhibitions and curatorial projects have been prepared by selected curators from abroad: Blanca de la Torre /ESP/, Daniele Capra /IT/, Ola Grzonkowska /PL/, Anna Monichi /IT/, Serena Baccaglini /IT/, Lalin Akalan /TU/, Nina Colosi /IT/ and TINA B. herself.
The guiding theme of last year’s exhibitions was NEW ERA. The new era in contemporary art was described and charted, and now we are looking into the future. What kind of role does the contemporary artist play today? Could the artist be instrumental in shedding new light on the problems of the society in the 21st century or even provide some solutions to them?
TINA B. 2010 is adopting an active stance towards art with this year’s theme: SOLUTIONS AND EVOLUTION.
After the Prague shows TINA B. is heading to Venice, where from 5 to 21 November 2010 she will be exhibiting art as part of the Architecture Biennale at Fondazione Buziol on Canal Grande and at the Church of St Leonardo.
The mysterious patroness of the festival, TINA B., will again show you that contemporary art is something worthwhile. You can already get involved in the festival activities and follow TINA B. on Facebook.
