Melbourne Art Fair 2002 is the premier trade fair and public exposition of contemporary
visual art in the Asia Pacific region.
Established by the Australian Commercial
Galleries Association (ACGA) in 1988, the
Melbourne Art Fair is held biennially at the
historic Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne,
Australia.
Melbourne Art Fair 2002 will be held from 2-6 October.
Melbourne Art Fair 2002 features 80 galleries from Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South
Korea, China, Germany, the Netherlands, the United States of America and the United Kingdom.
The Melbourne Art Fair program, in addition to
the exhibitions, features the Gala Vernissage
(first preview), an extensive national and
international Collectors Program, curated
exhibitions, including Project Rooms for
emerging and mid-career artists, national and
international art publications, VIP Salon, guided
tours, travel and accommodation packages.

The Melbourne Art Fair trades as a
not-for-profit organisation, owned by the ACGA,
a company limited by guarantee.
Melbourne Art Fair is supported by Australian
Federal, State and Local Governments who
recognise the important role that commercial
galleries play in the development and advocacy
of contemporary visual art and artists.
Venue
Royal Exhibition Building, Melbourne,
Australia. The Melbourne Art Fair is held in the
historic Royal Exhibition Building. The Royal
Exhibition Building is one of two late
nineteenth century Victorian Exposition sites
remaining intact in the world today, and, was
the site of Australia's first federal parliament.
The Building is situated in the Carlton Gardens
and is adjacent to the new Melbourne
Museum. The Building is within close walking
distance to Melbourne's leading restaurants
and retail districts.

Trams, trains and buses run directly to the
Royal Exhibition Building (Rathdowne Street
and Nicholson Street entrance) and parking is
also available.
