The Moviemento Kino will host on Tuesday February 15 at 8 p.m., a screening of ten shorts made by some international filmmakers who took part in a workshop conducted by Italian director Michelangelo Frammartino. The workshop, "The Nature of Images", took place in Teana (Basilicata, Italy) last December from 11 to 19 2010. The event coincides with the invitation of Frammartino to the 61st Berlin Film Festival with his latest film "Le quattro volte".
The director will attend the screening.

Video-screening programme

Mattia Colombo - Il Desiderio. (The Wish) - running time 13’ – 2010
"Il Desiderio" is the story of a dream. Biagio is a young man who lives in Teana, a tiny village in the Basilicata region, lost in the mountains and remote from the world. Most of his friends fled the village in search of another future in the city. During this historical moment in which the whole of Italy has become like Teana – i.e. a country from which people want to escape – Biagio, with his resistance, is a small everyday hero. But Biagio hides a secret. And when he feels the need to dream of a new life, he knows where to take refuge.

Bruno Di Lecce - Novanta miliardi di passi. (Ninety billion steps) – running time 4´30´´ - 2010
The film takes viewers out of their element by overturning the images and space-time depiction techniques of cinema and photography, thus introducing a dimension beyond the image. It is “another” space that takes shape through the voice of a girl. Starting from a detail and expanding to the country and the universe, she measures the whole world as she knows it. Ninety billion steps is the greatest distance that she is able to conceive. Despite its tangible nature, this distance remains relative and as yet undefined; it is a moving geographical entity, or perhaps the venue of imagination.

Marcella di Palo - Mímìsis. – running time 1' 56" – 2010
In this portrait of the Teana community the urban landscape and its architectural style go aesthetically parallel with the close-ups of the inhabitants' collaged faces. The film captures the simplicity of the people and decomposes it following the structural guidelines of the town - roofs mostly - which they belong to. The three elements of the piece find a unity in the final re-composition of the parts in an ending group photo.

Johanne Haaber Ihle - La linea d´ombra (The shadow line). - running time 2´15´´- 2010

Giovanni Lancellotti - Vento Forte (Strong wind). - running time 7´ - 2010
The clouds move, but sometimes we need a strong wind to notice them.

Raha Shirazi - Acqua (water). - running time 8´20´´ - 2010
In a performance piece that celebrates traditions and their roots, a girl travels far from home to bring back water.

Shane Sutton - Tragedia del Panisi. (Tragedy in Pannisi) – running time 6´ - 2010
In the night of April 1846 a butcher, a life convict and three others carried out a massacre in a quaint area near Teana, a small village in the south of Italy. There are numerous tales of ghost stories as told in a poem written in 1906 by Mr Del Vecchio, A building surveyor who lived in the small house. The house stands today but locals still talk about the events.

Maximilien Van Aertryck - Paesaggio con figure. (Figures, Landscapes) - running time 16' – 2010
In a small village in South Italy, adventures and anecdotes go hand in hand. Figures and landscapes are the sole ingredients needed to tell the story of life.

Thomas Wangsmo - Neve a Teana. The magic of snow - running time 2´23´´ - 2010
The Aftermath of Destruction. The struggle of man and nature - running time 3´45´´ - 2010.

Ita Zbroniec-Zajt - Ape. – running time 1´- 2010
A trailer for a short film about a small car/vehicle with big heart.
