Fountain Art Fair, an alternative exhibition of avant-garde galleries and art collectives, returns for its 6th successful year part of New York’s Armory Arts Week. Opening with a VIP & Press Preview on Thursday, March 3rd, Fountain will feature more than 20 innovative exhibitors and art projects. This year Fountain is thrilled to announce that Grace Exhibition Space will host 30–40 world-renowned performance artists in a series of never-before-seen live action works on-site at Fountain Art Fair.

On deck, below deck, and at the hull of Fountain’s unique venue, Pier 66 Maritime, Grace Exhibition Space will present INFILTRATE!, a 4-day curated program of performance art featuring the works of Boston’s Mobius Collective. Artists from Mobius Collective—whose mission is to generate, shape and test experimental art—will perform roaming and sited pieces throughout the weekend, in a splash of live action aimed to throw overboard all preconceived notions of art fairs. Sound and video performances, net-making, livewire sculpture, and ritual offerings are planned, all on board the boat.

Fountain’s Friday night public opening reception (March 4th) will feature live musical performances by breakout pop/funk force Gordon Voidwell, electro-pop sensation Tecla, and Generic. Fountain is pleased to announce it’s partnership with Lomography for an event of document-worthy proportion: Saturday night’s PICTURE PARTY(March 5), an evening celebrating the unique imagery of analogue photographyand creative visual expression. Headlining Saturday’s Lomography Picture Party will be hip hop/punk trio Ninjasonik and NSR. Lomography, a cultural institution and global community dedicated to experimental analogue film photography, will offer a variety of specialty cameras for Fountain attendees—including the Fisheye, Diana Mini, and Colorsplash—to capture the evening’s art, crowds, and performances.

Adding to Fountain’s signature overwhelming visual and sensory experience, visitors entering Fountain Art Fair will encounter a 100-foot long street art installation stretching along the entrance and exit—a massive collaborative installation by more than ten of the country’s up-and-coming, notorious street artists. The installation wall will feature work by notable artists Chris Stain, Dickchicken!, Faro, Gaia,Shark Toof, Clown Soldier, Love Me, Ellis G, Allesandro Echevarria, Lee Trice, Imminent Disaster, Elle, Hellbent, Joe Iurato, and Anthony Sneed. ”From the first Fountain show in 2006 with McCaig-Welles, to working with Ad Hoc Art in Miami and New York in 2008 and 2009, to the street art install in Miami 2010, the medium and movement referred to as Street Art has played an integral role in Fountain Art Fair’s development,” said David Kesting, Fountain Art Fair Co-Founder.

Lomography joins partners 101.9 RXP FM, The Village Voice, Gawker Artists, Flavorpill, The Onion,The L Magazine, Hedley’s Inc., Downing Frames, NY Art Beat, Brooklyn Street Art, and Artnfo in recognizing and supporting Fountain’s commitment to up-and-coming, culturally resonant artwork.
