New Photographic Works. This new solo show collects already known works as well as brand new ones: the group images of the series 'They', started in 1997, run through the gap between past and present by freezing time in mirror-like portraits, where the confrontation of subjects and postures leave the observer free to grasp the unintelligible flowing of time.
New Photographic Works
Holding eternity in a blink of the shutter. This is how we can hermetically address the evocative power of Hai Bo's opera, who by means of the camera brings back to mind and hart the frangrance of distant times belonging to a personal past which involves relatives, friends and thus the author himself in an authentic and intense recalling of sensations and subtle feelings that eventually turn out to be unaltered as preserved in that precise moment.
This new solo show collects already known works as well as brand new ones: the group images of the series "They", started in 1997, run through the gap between past and present by freezing time in mirror-like portraits, where the confrontation of subjects and postures leave the observer free to grasp the unintelligible flowing of time.
In "Dusk"(2002) Hai Bo's distinctive propension towards a visually simple- esthetically modest and composed, but insofar warmly comunicative style ponders deeply on familiar affections and love.
In "Love" the streaming of instants spoils the paper- blurred, cut and torn- but leaves intact the spiritual value which lays in the core of the couples-portraits; in the series "One Hundred lovers" the multitude of little frames keep colour and black/white witnesses of bygone days embaded in different times and places, whilst underscoring the uniqueness and magic of each of them.
Both the upper and ground floor at CAAW will be displaying these and other photos, in narrating a personal artistic experience that approaches the essential significance and value of life and death. Quoting the artist's words:"there's no biginning for Time, while life is so brief".
