“ISOLE” è un format modulare per l’arte e la natura, dove gli attori principali sono l’artista e un luogo sublime a confronto. Il luogo è per eccellenza “l’isola”, che richiede un viaggio e un avvicinamento, a cui segue una riflessione e un atto creativo, da cui scaturisce l’opera.

“ISOLE. Il volto femminile del Sublime”, con la progettazione e la direzione artistica della Galleria le5venice, è un progetto itinerante suddiviso in capitoli. Il primo “ISOLE” è dedicato a Ginostra e nasce con l’intento di promuovere giovani talenti femminili che si affiancano a nomi già noti dello scenario artistico contemporaneo, per rivelare luoghi inaccessibili e sublimi dove l’artista ritrovi se stessa nell’isolamento della creazione.

Tre le artiste coinvolte: una fotografa affermata, Melina Mulas, una giovane pittrice, Lisa Vanzetto, una videomaker emergente, Viola Serra. Tre atti creativi al femminile per Ginostra, “isola” nell’isola di Stromboli. Tre donne che trasformano le proprie esperienze soggettive in opere d’arte, riappropriandosi della realtà del luogo attraverso una scansione temporale ben precisa, composta da un primo sopralluogo, a cui segue un periodo di riflessione, per poi tornare sull’isola al fine di generare l’opera. Durante le residenze delle due giovani artiste, è cruciale però un’altra presenza femminile, quella della fotografa, che non solo documenta, ma assieme a loro crea un corpus organico e creativo che riflette lo spirito del progetto.
Lontane dagli happening e dalle performance, le artiste, attraverso le opere, si fanno portatrici del genius loci e dell’identità storico-sociale del posto, attraverso la propria interpretazione di ambienti incontaminati, dove si realizza un rapporto del tutto speciale e soggettivo fra individuo e natura.

“ISOLE. Il volto femminile del Sublime” vuole anche sensibilizzare e mettere in luce tematiche legate all’ecologia, alla sostenibilità e all’uso di nuove fonti di energia. Il progetto è iniziato con il primo sopralluogo della curatrice Tea Gualdo con Lisa Vanzetto nell’ottobre del 2008. Nel rispetto della peculiarità del luogo ha previsto che l’isola rimanesse inaccessibile al grande pubblico.

Le opere troveranno la loro collocazione nello spazio espositivo di le5venice contemporary art gallery, suggestiva galleria veneziana che si affaccia sul Teatro La Fenice, dove dal 3 giugno, in occasione della 54esima Biennale di Venezia, saranno in mostra i lavori realizzati per Ginostra. Ginostra è il primo dei 5 moduli su cui si sviluppa il progetto “ISOLE. Il volto femminile del Sublime”.

"ISLANDS" is a modular format of art and nature, in which the main characters, the artist and a sublime location confront each other. The location is par excellence "the island", which requires a trip and an approach, and following quite an amount of consideration and creative action, the work of art is born.

"ISLANDS. The feminine face of the Sublime", organized and managed by the Art Gallery le5venice, is a travelling project divided in chapters. The first one, "ISLANDS" is dedicated to Ginostra and was conceived with the intent to promote young female talents that already work side by side with some of the famous names of the contemporary artistic scenery, to reveal inaccessible and sublime places where the artist is able to express herself in the isolation of creation.

The artists involved are three: an affirmed photographer, Melina Mulas, a young painter, Lisa
Vanzetto, an emergent video maker, Viola Serra. Three creative actions by women for Ginostra, an "island" within the island of Stromboli. Three women who transform their own personal experiences into works of art, taking possession of the reality of the place through a precise time span, composed by a first inspection, to which follows a period of consideration, to then return to the island in order to produce a work of art. During the stay of the two young artists, another female presence is crucial, the one of the photographer, who not only documents the progress, but together with them creates an complementary and creative body that reflects the spirit of the project.

Far away from the events and from the performances, the artists, through their works, are the bearers of the culture and of the historical-social identity of the place, through their interpretation of the uncontaminated environment, in which a special relationship is established between an individual and nature.

"ISLANDS. The feminine face of the Sublime” also wants to create awareness and to emphasize the problems related to the environment, to its sustainability and to the use of new sources of energy. The project started with a first inspection carried out by the curator of the project Tea Gualdo together with Lisa Vanzetto in October of 2008. In respect of the peculiarity of the place she has decided that the island would remain inaccessible to the greater public.

The works of art shall be placed in the exhibition area of le5venice contemporary art gallery, which is a suggestive art gallery in Venice that faces the Theatre La Fenice, in which, starting June 3rd, on the occasion of the 54th Venice Biennial, the works created for Ginostra shall be exhibited. Ginostra is the first 5 modules in which the project "ISLANDS. The feminine face of the Sublime" is divided.
