MAJOR TEXTILE BIANNUAL EXHIBITION
An exciting exhibition of Contemporary Textile Art opens on Thursday 12 December at Ormeau Baths Gallery.
In this, its first year of what will become a Biannual Open Submission Competition, OBG will be exhibiting a truly diverse International selection of work featuring artists from Japan, Australia and Holland as well as from the UK and Ireland.
Contemporary Textile Art represents the first exhibition of textile art on this scale in Northern Ireland, and a prize of £6,000 will be presented to the winner of the competition at the exhibition preview on 12 December 2002.
OBG is delighted to present a series of recent work by Artist and lecturer Michael Brennand-Wood which will be shown in conjunction with the open exhibition.
Brennand-Wood's innovative and original work features three dimensional textile constructions composed of a mixture of materials such as fabric collage, tape, wire, wood, acrylic and stitchery.
This exhibition will bring together several of Brennand-Wood's intricate textile constructions alongside more recent floral pieces from his Stars Underfoot collection, created in collaboration with photographer James Austin.
