An Exhibition By Matthew Rose & Jeremy Stigter
PARIS--Mayers, Aebel & McHale, Gallery of Contemporary Art, is pleased
to present "Lost & Found," an unusual and seductive exhibition of words,
objects and images by the American Artist Matthew Rose and the Dutch
Photographer Jeremy Stigter.
Matthew Rose debuted his text print series, "Paintings" at the Gallery
in 1999, (recently acquired by the Boca Raton Museum of Art, Florida).
He will create a wall-sized installation of words and objects, including
"Evaporations," "The End of the World" and "Pig and Ass."
Jeremy Stigter, who last exhibited his series "Understanding Fashion" at
the gallery, will premiere his series "XXX."
"Lost doesn't mean found," says Stigter. "To quote Jules Renard,
'L'ironie est la pudeur de l'humanité'. After all, the art of pleasing
may very well be the art of cheating."
"What we are looking for is the Holy Holy Holy," adds Rose, gruffly.
"Give me a six pack and a Solid Gold Dancer, and I show you where to
look."
Both artists have shown throughout Europe and North America and their
works are included in dozens of private and public collections all over
the world.
In addition, Mayers, Aebel & McHale is happy to host Live Performances
By Special Guests Los Angeles/Paris Performance Artist Laura Liebline
and Literary Editor of Les Episodes Philippe Aronson.
Vernissage: Vendredi/Friday 18H00 20 December 2002
