Andrew Arnaoutopoulos has constucted his
work for Trojan Horse around the rich historical
drama of the Parthenon Marbles. Two centuries
ago these infamous sculptures were removed
from Athens' Acropolis by Lord Elgin and have
been kept in the collection of the British Museum
despite continuing pleas for their return.
Trojan Horse focuses on the controversial
relationship between Museums and their
merchandise. In other words these stolen
objects have generated a souvenir industry that
the British Museum is reluctant to lose.
