Can craftsmanship go together with design?

This exhibition approaches a new answer to the age-old question, introducing a limited edition of pieces by six international designers, made together with Italian artisans. Craft traditions and materials, care of high-quality finishing and attention to details receive new impulses from innovative design.

The connection between design and craftsmanship is today amplified even more by the demand for products of the highest quality possible: this limited edition of design pieces aims to enhance the importance of taking care of details as a first step towards innovation and sustainability. Edition of 6 embraces the flexibility of small and diversified production runs as a value and a useful verification tool. The appreciation of the possibilities of traditional crafts is here completed by the research of new borders to cross, pushing materials and workings towards brand new fields of application, and introducing typological transition and technical experimentation as new means of exploration.

Organized in collaboration with CNA Vicenza (Association of Artisans in Vicenza, Italy), Edition of 6 is the ideal follow-up of a project begun last summer called AAA - Cercasi nuovo artigiano (“New artisan wanted”), a program that has experimented new fields of collaboration between designers and craftsmen.

The result is a limited edition of objects exhibited for the first time in April 2011, during the Milan's Salone del Mobile.
