Hardly any other bureaucratic act in recent decades can have changed so much and so many lives: it changed the lives of many Turkish families, it changed German culture and it changed everyday life, both in Turkey and Germany. That is why the festival not just showing films from Germany, but also films from the Turkish point of view. It’s about individual destinies as well – stories told by the films and by the many high-profile directors and actors who will be discussing their work and their life experiences at the festival: it’s about Almanya here, and Almanya there.
