A collection of 12 bronzes by the sculptor Maureen Quin will be taken on a national tour during 2000.
The first exhibition will be held in the Eduardo Villa museum at the Pretoria University from Monday 6 March - 18 March and will be followed up by an exhibition at the Potchefstroom University from 20 March to 1 April 2000. In September the collection will be exhibited at the Natal Society of Arts Durban, from 3rd to 21 September 2000, and then on to Bloemfontien where it will be displayed at the Oliewenhuis Art Museum from 26 September to 15 October. During Feb 2001 it will be shown at the Cuyler Street Gallery, Port Elizabeth.
Maureen Quin has been working on the series over a period of 8 years and they depict a deeply felt emotional response to man's inhumanity to his fellow man coupled with the continued destruction of his environment.
In a booklet "The Hunt", produced by the artist, she recounts her train of thought and the emotions she experienced culminating in the conceptualisation and production of this series.
The completed series was presented to the public for the first time at the 1999 Standard Bank Arts Festival in Grahamstown where the response from the art loving public was overwhelmingly favourable.
