Christopher Makos and Paul Solberg found an artistic soul mate and together they became The Hilton Brothers. In partnership with the Photo Festival of Saint-Germain-des-Prés, from November 4th to November 30st, 2011, and the month of photography in Paris, Catherine Houard presents a unique artistic duo of your time: The Hilton Brothers.
Christopher Makos is a legendary photographer who started off his career alongside Man Ray. He then became Andy Warhol’s confident to whom he offered his first camera. According to Warhol: “Christopher is the most modern photographer in America …” .
Paul Solberg is a rising talent who made his name with the book “Bloom” (pub. Glitterati, 2005). A book of flowers photography, sublimated through his camera.
In Paul Solberg, Christopher Makos found an artistic soul mate and together they became The Hilton Brothers. After travelling around the world extensively for 8 years, they have developed a unique work, which you can now rediscover in their first monographs “Tyrants and Lederhosen” (pub. Oct. 2011, La Fabrica).
The world premiere of “Tyrants and Lederhosen” will take place at the gallery Catherine Houard 2 in November, with exclusive book signing. A selection of photographs covering years 2004-2011 will be presented at the gallery. The photographs are presented with comments by the duo.
