Small dreams and memories appear in some quick gestural works, while the large scale paintings give us a sense of patience
This exhibition of paintings by two recent graduates of the Fine Arts Program at University of Waterloo, is a combination of fantasy, reflection, and keen observation. With very different aesthetics and methods of working the artists share a sensibility for painting that is vivid and brave. Small dreams and memories appear in some quick gestural works, while the large scale pieces give us a sense of patience, both on behalf of the artists in producing the works, but also our own ability to read into complex images of shapes and figures. While the distinction between two practices is obvious, the balance between both artists exists in gentle contrasts of reality vs. fiction and provides an exhibition filled with possibilities for personal interpretations. Opening Reception: wednesday, November 2, 6:30 pm.
