Over 70 exhibitors will take part in the third edition of the International Contemporary Art Fair JUSTMAD, from the 16th to the 19th of February 2012. JUSTMAD is an itinerant fair inside the city of Madrid, which changes location every Edition, creating a challenge not only for the team and participants, but also for the visitor. For this Edition, the cark park of world-class hotel Silken Puerta América hotel, where renowned architects, such as Norman Foster and Zaha Hadid have developed some of the floors, is the designated option.
Under the direction of its curatorial committee (Javier Duero, Martí Manen and Luiza Teixeira de Freitas) JUSTMAD has created its own vocabulary, knows what it wants and what its defining elements are. JUSTMAD evidences this in its parallel programmes designed to discuss art, as well as through its specific projects and culminating moments, such as the art prizes that are awarded during the fair.
Old and new: Sections and awards
For the second time Producers' Desk invites researchers, educators and mediators performing their work in academic contexts between the hybrid and the experimental.
The Publishers' Corner is a new section dedicated to Art Publishing. Joining together independent publishers from different countries, it will be a space of interaction, discovery and experimentation of the paper media.
Forevertonight is the first edition of a section based on a selection of artistic time-based proposals, such as video or sound art. These art works offering an up-close approach to the art experience will invade some of the rooms in the hotel.
Contemporary design continues in JUSTMAD3 with JustMad Design. This section, directed by expert Rocío Bardín, looks forward to increase visualisation of the works created inbetween art and design.
This third edition of JUSTMAD will count with three awards: The 2nd Museum ABC Drawing Award, which will finance an exhibition by a selected artist working with drawing; the JUSTMAG Young Talent Award (1st Edition), which will confer 4000 EUR and produce a show by the chosen participant; and, finally, the organizers of JUSTMAD, Artfairs SL, will reward a young artist selected by a jury of established artists, with a prize of 3000 EUR.
