In its new 1000 m² space, the Gallery presents an important retrospective of works made by artists who are currently living and working in China and the ones who had been invited in residency to use the energy of the City and depict its very special liveliness in the past few years. Seen as a cultural dialogue, the exhibition features large-scale projects inspired by the dynamics of Shanghai.
From JonOne, the legendary New York street artist to talented Shanghainese artists as Maleonn and Yang Yongliang all are inspired on an everyday basis by the city. Some even left a deeper mark in the city as JR and VHILS who shared their art on the Shanghai walls. With OVERLOOK, Magda Danysz is proud to look back and share the fantastic adventure she has been creating over the last years all around the world and in Shanghai.
The exhibition OVERLOOK presents works that depicted the liveliness of the creation in Shanghai by artist who live in the city or the ones invited by Magda Danysz. Undoubtedly, Shanghai is the well of inspiration as the energy of the city never seems to cease. For the young photographer, Alain Delorme, after several visits Shanghai has inspired the Totem series, which gives a unique vision of China. From Maleonn (photographs) to aaajiao (interactive multimedia installations), many artists create works specific for the exhibition at Magda Danysz Gallery. OVERLOOK is the occasion to rediscover the outstanding works and project from the gallery.
