Photo Recall. From the over 50 year work of this important New York photographer and cinematographer, a rare intensity and refinement emerge. Kenneth Van Sickle is known for his atmospheric images engendered by the ubiquitous urban bohemia of Paris and New York. The exhibition offers a complete overview of this distinguished master, who studied with George Grosz, came early to photography, worked with Robert Frank, and exhibited with Duane Michaels. His work is in numerous collections, including the Museum of Modern Art and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Images from diverse periods are juxtaposed here: b&w images of the 1950s, influenced by jazz, are matched with photomontages of the 1970s and recent color photos.
