The Matthew Travis Gallery is pleased to present an exhibition of
paintings by Phyllis Flax, Karen Lastre, and Jean Higgins.
Phyllis
Flax's work has been seen at the Visual Arts Alliance Show (1997 and
Third Place Award 2000), the Assistance League Celebrates Texas Art
(2000), and at the Midtown Visions Cultural Arts Tour (2001 and 2003).
Karen Lastre's work is included in corporate and private collections in
North America and Europe. Lastre won a merit award at the Cheekwood
Museum of Art, Nashville, Tenn. (1994), in a competition juried by
Kenneth Nolan and Jennifer Wells, curator of the Paine Webber Art
Collections.
Jean Higgins has been both a student and a teacher of art
for three decades. A member of the National Society of Artists, she has
shown in a number of their juried exhibitions in south Texas
(1995x{2013}2002) and was awarded First Place in Mixed Media in 2000 and 2001.
