comunicato stampa

The Royal Academy Schools will stage the annual exhibition of final year postgraduate students' work and profile the work of artists developed over a three-year period of intensive study. The exhibition will see the transformation of the students' studios into a stunning contemporary gallery space and provide visitors with a rare opportunity to view exceptional work from an ambitious generation of international artists.

The Royal Academy Schools is a leading centre for the study of fine art, run by artists for artists, offering the only three-year, full-time postgraduate course in fine art in the UK. Established in 1768 as an integral element of the Royal Academy of Arts, the Schools' distinguished heritage provides a unique environment and a rich setting in which the students develop their individual practices. Each tightly knit year group adds a new chapter to the Schools' history. The exhibiting students reflect the international reputation of the Schools. The Schools offer a wide range of opportunities including tutorials and lectures given by leading figures in the art world.

Eileen Cooper RA, Keeper of the Royal Academy said: "As always, the studios of the Royal Academy Schools are buzzing with activity in anticipation of the forthcoming Schools Show. This year, 16 diverse and exciting young artists will graduate from our unique three-year programme, representing sculpture, painting, installation, and photography."

Many works exhibited will be available for sale. Artworks sold directly support the development of the students and the production of new work.

Students exhibiting: Pio Abad, Carly Bateup, Lewis Betts, Toby Christian, Archie Franks, Lucinda Graves, Christopher McSherry, Andrew Mealor, Christopher Mew, Sophie Michael, Adele Morse, Sikelela Owen, Jolanta Rejs, John Robertson, Anna Salamon, and Sonja Weissmann.

The works on display will include those produced in the EPSON Digital Media Suite. The space provides students with the opportunity to experiment with equipment at the forefront of digital imaging technology.

Eileen Cooper RA became Keeper of the Royal Academy in October 2011. Not only is she the first female Keeper of the RA, she is the first woman Academician to be elected an officer.
