The paintings investigate her fear and fascination of all things airborne. Her obvious technical ability has lead to her receiving notable commissions. Karin is a graduate from the Edinburgh School of Art, gaining a first class degree before moving to Bristol. Taking a studio in Jamaica Street, a vibrant and pro-active collection of artist's spaces a short walk from the city centre, she began to refine and develop the ideas that had first formed in Scotland. She sought to compare the mechanised engines of aircraft, particularly military fighter planes from the propeller age, with the armoured bodies of flying insects.
