Anathema Anatomica. Surreal, kitsch, retro and fetish are some of the adjectives that could be used to describe the work of Vincent Mallea, a leading French Contemporary Photographer.
Anathema Anatomica is the third solo exhibition of Vincent Malléa in the Artevistas Gallery.
Surreal, kitsch, retro and fetish are some of the adjectives that could be used to describe the work of Vincent Malléa, a leading French Contemporary Photographer. His work is inspired, among other things, by advertising, propaganda and mass media.
His modus operandi, in terms of technique, consists in colorizing black-and-white pictures he takes, and making a patchwork-collage of it to create the final work.
With this new series of anatomical self-portraits, the artist breaks the glamor that surrounded his work so far and gives us an almost clinical vision of nudity. The author’s narcissism reaches a climax with the dissection of all the pieces of his anatomy, rigorously and methodically.
The presentation of this exhibition is for the artist a moment of deep introspection, an anxious and contemplative “mise en abyme”.
Malléa Vincent decides to share all this with the public, as always with humor, provocation and idolatry.
The exhibition Anathema Anatomica is the cultural event in the official program of the Circuit Festival 2012.
