An investigation of Polish contemporary artists in Scotland. The exhibition comproses of works by six female artists: Ola Rek, Magdalena Blasinska, Grazyna Dobrzelecka, Aleksandra Zawada, Agata Dymus-Kazmierczak and Joanna Lyczko.
Over the years Scotland has attracted a large community of international artists to its shores. In the past decade, the wave of ‘new Scots’ coming to study, work and live in Scotland, has included a very strong Polish voice. The work being produced by these Polish artists has attracted significant interest and there is now a very definite Polish influence infiltrating the Scottish contemporary scene.
This exhibition aims to highlight a number of the key young players in this movement. The exhibition asks what attracted them to Scotland; how they straddle their careers in both countries; and if/how their practice in Scotland differs from a similar experience in their homeland.
