Art ist kuku nu ut. To introduce the cream of contemporary art to the local community as well as the national audiences, also to integrate local artists into international networks and draw attention to local emerging artists.

ART IST KUKU NU UT is a site- and context specific festival, designed especially into the cultural space of Tartu, Estonia, an historical university city of the 100 000 inhabitants in the Eastern border of EU. As organizers, we wish to introduce the cream of contemporary art to the local community as well as the national audiences, also to integrate local artists into international networks and draw attention to local emerging artists.

September 6, 2012 at 5 pm: Opening of the Festival of Contemporary Art ART IST KUKU NU UT and the exhibition HUH! PFUI! YUCK! AHA! WOW! The Classics of Estonian Contemporary Art in Tartu Art Museum, curated by Rael Artel. Artists: Johnson & Johnson, Kai Kaljo, Flo Kasearu, Raul Meel, Jaan Toomik, Anna-Stina Treumund.

Dates: September 6 – November 18, 2012. Venue: Tartu Art Museum, Raekoja 18, Tartu, Estonia

September 7, 2012 at 3 pm: artist talk by Chris Fitzpatrick in Tartu Art House, Vanemuise 46, Tartu, Estonia

September 7, 2012 at 5 pm: Opening of the Ride gently over the bridge, an international exhibition guest curated by Chris Fitzpatrick (Antwerp/San Fransisco) in Noorus gallery. Artists: Nina Beier (Berlin), Taha Belal (Cairo), Ruben Bellinkx (Brussels), Liudvikas Buklys (Gent), Frank Chu (Oakland), Jos de Gruyter ja Harald Thys (Brussels), Anthony Diseenza (Oakland), Antanas Gerlikas (Vilnius), Krõõt Juurak (Amsterdam), Nicholas Matranga (Berlin), Morten Norbye Halvorsen (London), Giulia Piseitelli (Napoli), Sterling Ruby (Los Angeles), Triin Tamm (Eestonia), Laura Toots (Tallinn) ja Steve Van Den Bosch (Antwerp).

Dates: September 7 – September 30, 2012. Venue: Noorus gallery, Riia 11, Tartu, Estonia

September 7, 2012 at 7 pm: Opening of the winner of KUKU NUNNU production grant project The girl who loved everything by Eike Eplik in Y-gallery.
Venue: Y-gallery, Küütri 2, Tartu, Estonia

After official programme, each night afterparties will follow in different clubs and bars in Tartu!

Estonia is served by Tallinn Airport, flights are also operated to Riga, Latvia. To Tartu, it is possible to come by train, by buses and of course, by cars.
