Alliance Française de Singapour presents the
latest solo exhibition of Singapore Cultural
Medallion recipient of 2005, Chng Seok Tin
as one of its opening cultural programme of
the year 2013.
This exhibition revolves around the fate of
Chng Seok Tin in her experience in France,
and the philosophy behind Yuan – The circle. Chng is one of greatest print makers
and fine artists in Singapore. This series of art works based on round objects and
forms as well as her art works produced in France. She lost her sight in 1988 due
to a surgical procedure and focuses mainly in mixed media and sculptural works.
One art work “Dream Castle” takes a significant position in this exhibition where it
was inspired by her trip to Mont Saint-Michel in France and is a point of reference
of her art before and after her lost of sight. She has held more than 25 solo
exhibitions and more than 100 group exhibitions in world wide. For her courage
and contribution in the arts, she was awarded the Woman of the Year 2001 in Her
World Magazine.
