Movements Are Systems Systems Kill is a reaction to an art world in confusion.
Movements Are Systems Systems Kill is a reaction to an art world in confusion. An art world that is finding itself bowing to money and 'taste' instead of spirit and experimentation. An art world that has mutated purely into a corporation as opposed to a vehicle that can push art history forward. An art world that pounces on and exploits youth culture for payoffs instead of providing youth culture a haven to flourish in. An art world painting itself into a corner.
These young and largely unknown artists will present works fabricated and funded by them and them alone. Many of these artists hail from back grounds in punk rock music, and hold the staunch attitude that the only way to do it, is to do it yourself. That is; publish yourself, start your own band, put out your own record, start your own gallery, create your own politics, make your own art, etc. We feel that this is particularly bright and powerful work by just a few of the countless disgruntled suburban youth that have found their way to New York City. The works range from drawing and painting to sculpture, video, and collaboration.
