The gallery will open with the first solo exhibition of the young French photographer
The gallery will open with the first solo exhibition of Julia Lucie (Tours, 1986), "Hors du Boucan du Monde/ Outside the World's Noise". This young French photographer graduated last year from the Ecole Nationale Superieure de la Photographie in Arles. Her quiet images are accounts of journeys and encounters with lonely objects, which she uses to create a visual order in the world around her. Encountering borders and obstacles are recurring themes; we see a stuffed elephant behind glass, a misty glass pane or a window that turns out to be made from stone. Sometimes she gently breaks through those borders, like in a photo of a halved peach or of a tear in the wallpaper. The works let the viewer imagine stories behind the images and create new meaning.
