New Axis sees artists accustomed to working in two-dimensional media, augment and reshape their practice via the introduction of a new angle, vector or way of viewing.
The work aims to create a sense of additional depth – both physical and emotional – by opening out angles, stretching edges and embracing new touch-points. Artistic disciplines are conflated and exchanged, viewpoints are repositioned and realigned, and relationships with traditional forms deepened. By introducing these new co-ordinates, the work is pushed into new space, where it gains new shape and new life.
