Removing the commercial edge of exhibiting and marketing art, -scope presents one-person and thematic group exhibitions organized by emerging galleries, curators, dealers and arts organizations in the relaxed rooms of a hotel.
Removing the commercial edge of exhibiting and marketing art, -scope presents one-person and thematic group exhibitions organized by emerging innovative international galleries, curators, dealers and arts organizations in the intimate and relaxed rooms of a hotel. Additional artist projects are located in the lobby, elevators, hallways and roof top. The diverse range of works in price from $500 to $15,000, making -scope a select stop for collectors, museums, curators and the art-loving public.
40 participating exhibitors will be located on the third and fourth floors of The Standard Downtown LA. They hail from Alburquerque, Calgary, Houston, Los Angeles (Chinatown, Hollywood and Santa Monica), Miami, New York City (Brooklyn and Manhattan), San Antonio, San Francisco, Toronto and Vancouver.
Days/hours for -scopeLA are Friday, July 18, 12 - 6pm; Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20, 12 - 8pm and Monday, July 21, 12 - 6pm. Admission is $10 daily and catalogs are $5.
-scopeLA inaugurates three new programs with the Independent Curator Award, -scopeSound and Cinema-scope. The Independent Curator Award provides an emerging curator with an exhibition room (see separate release). -scopeSound showcases emerging local DJs, sound artists and bands. Cinema-scope is an on-site curated international film and video program with daily screenings and a final-night off-site special screenings and a reception. Established at the inception of -scope, the Emerging Artist Grant provides an artist with a monetary award to help further their career. In addition, afternoon art-related panels will be held on Saturday, July 19 and Sunday, July 20.
-scopeLA coincides with this year's Absolut - LA International, a four-week city-wide exhibition beginning July 9 with over 200 international artists from 30 countries exhibiting in Los Angeles?s galleries and art institutions.
