Government Art Collection. Artists from the 1500s to the present day are featured in the exhibition, which includes works by Anthony van Dyck, Graham Sutherland, Andy Warhol, Tracey Emin, Martin Creed, Gary Hume, Ed Ruscha and Grayson Perry.
Over 160 works comprising the exhibition are usually displayed in British government buildings around the world, raising the profile of the art and artists and contributing to cultural diplomacy.
You may well have seen some of the works from the Government Art Collection (GAC) on TV or in newspapers displayed on the walls behind Prime Ministers, politicians or ambassadors.

The exhibition is divided into five sections:
At Work selected by politicians and ambassadors
Richard Of York Gave Battle In Vain selected by the artist Cornelia Parker
Travelling Light selected by historian Simon Schama
12 from No 10 selected by non-political staff from 10 Downing Street
Commissions: Now and Then.
It presents different aspects of the role of the Collection, from how work is selected to commissioning works of art for new or refurbished government buildings. The selections highlight how the Government Art Collection often makes cultural, historical or geographical connections between the works and the location in which they are displayed.
