What a Fucking Waste of Time. The focus of the KAF founder Jochen Kienzle's present selection is the wide realm of figuration and abstraction, dealing with the teacher-father generation, and the discourse about the possibility of representing (art)-objects.
Since the Kienzle Art Foundation (KAF) began its work in 2010, numerous shows have investigated
the family’s collections, focusing on the activities of KAF founder Jochen Kienzle. The passionate
collector and ex-gallerist features the artists Alfred Müller (* 1960) and Marcus Neufanger (* 1964) in
the present endeavor.
Kienzle has been following and accompanying these two southwest German artists’ positions for
many years. He met Müller while collaborating with Annette Gmeiner in Stuttgart. KAF founder and
artists belong to the middle generation at this point. They have been working professionally in the
creative-artistic field for almost thirty years by now, an opportune occasion to take a closer look at
how they have been dealing with this milieu.
Known for his idiosyncratic taste, Jochen Kienzle is not someone to follow trends. Steadily following
his own path, the focus of his present selection is the wide realm of figuration and abstraction,
dealing with the teacher-father generation, and the discourse about the possibility of representing
(art)-objects. The material on view offers a wide range of variety, incorporating photographic models
as well as personal memories, for example in the shape of intarsia in a chest serving as storage.
Skeptical vis-à-vis sheer beauty, this exhibition encompasses the familiar proximity to theoretical
discourse.
The exhibition will be accompanied by a catalogue with texts by Robert Eikmeyer and Georg Winter.
